Micro Finance

WEAN started micro credit program in1992 with its own small capital fund of Rs 300,000.

In 2001 WEAN received permission from Nepal Rastra Bank to act as an Micro Financial Intimediary (MFI). This provides WEAN the legal authority to obtain loans from Banks, Financial institute, individuals and organizations to re- distribute to the needy and underprivileged sections of the society.

WEAN has more than 2000 micro credit members who have taken loan and has also, created 2 cooperatives out of the previous micro credit beneficiaries who run their cooperatives independently. It is also in the process of creating other self independent groups from those micro credit members who have been with WEAN for a long time and who are now capable to handle their own money. Some of our beneficiaries have even become trainers. At present WEAN works in 4 districts namely Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Raswa.

Repayment rate is 98.97%, self sufficiency is 100%
